Early Fall Wardrobe Essentials
We are more than halfway through August so, it's time to start packing up our bikinis and start pulling out our sweaters -- or at least start thinking about transitioning your closet. It's nowhere near close to the time of the year to be layering on clothing but, if there's one thing I love it's Fall clothing. As soon as the peak of August has passed, I start thinking about Autumn. September here in Virginia is still fairly warm but when the sun sets each night, it gets cool pretty quickly. I like to bring the fall color while keeping my clothing still slightly in summer. I will sometimes even go with a fall colored pair of shorts and a long sleeve tee or sweater, if I feel like long pants, a short sleeve sweater is a great option! See, this time of year is all about transitioning your wardrobe. The weather is in between hot and cold and all in all, it's just a weird time for clothing. I'm sharing some of my favorite pieces to help you transition from Summer to Fall.
It's all about color in the early stages of Fall. My favorite colors for early Fall are olive green, tan, camel, navy, cream, cranberry, and mustard yellow. And as much as we all know how much I love to layer clothing, I won't start doing that until mid October, September is too early for that, even for me.
As far as coats go, I won't pull out my peacoat for a while but I do love the J.Crew quilted puffers. They offer just enough warmth for me to get by when walking to class, work, or the library. I did find the chicest coat ever on SheInside though! It's a classic trench with no sleeves. I looks great with a white button up or a turtleneck. When it comes to shoes, boots stay in the closet for those first few weeks of Fall as well. I keep within the range or a cheetah print loafer, a nude flat, or a lace up slip on. For accessories, I go with tortoise shell, gold, and pearl -- simple and classic.
Right now I am loving stripes for fall -- but let's be honest, when am I not loving stripes? The classic J.Crew boatneck tees are and forever will be a Fall favorite of mine. One of those with a pair of skinny jeans and a pair of flats is a go-to outfit of mine. Another favorite trend of mine is the French handkerchief. These square scarves have taken over the blogger world and I for one, am loving it. I tried it out last year and couldn't quite get it perfect so I didn't feature it again. This year, I am already thinking of ways to style my new scarf. They look great as belts, around your neck, around a handbag, or in your hair.
I spent all night last night going through my favorite sites and rounding up all of my favorite, new early Fall items. From short sleeve sweaters, to cheetah print, and ruffled button ups -- designers are coming in hot with great Fall pieces. All that I am loving right now is linked down below so you can prep for Fall too!
