How to Shop the Lilly Pulitzer Sale
The biggest sale of the year is finally happening. I have known about the sale dates for so long and I am so happy that I can finally share them with you. So many customers at the store asked me and I had to lie and say I didn't know, along with so many curious readers. If there's one thing I have learned, it's that there are some dedicated and very patient Lilly Lovers out there.
I know how cut-throat the sale can be so I wanted to share a few of my tips with you for both online and in-store shopping the day of the sale. There are some great perks of both shopping experiences, and although it's up to you to decided how you want to shop, I hope some of my tips will help you have the most successful Lilly End of Summer Sale yet! The sale will take place from August 28th at 8am until August 30th at 11:59. The sale is not site wide but does include a lot Lilly.
In Store Shopping:
If you are fortunate enough to have a Lilly Pulitzer corporate store closet to you, I highly reccomend shopping in store rather than online. You won't have to stand in a virtual line and you won't have to wake up at 7am just to have a chance at getting something you want. Waking up early for the store opening allows you to sleep in and still be one of the first to get your hands on some Lilly. You also get the instant gratification of being able to wear your new goodies out ASAP. Online shoppers don't get the pleasure of doing that!
You also don't have to rush when you're shopping in store. When shopping online, you are rushed so someone doesn't steal something from your cart. In store, once you have something in your hands, nobody would dare steal something out of your hands. Another perk of shopping in the store is that you get the chance to try things on. Online, all sales are final making poorly fitted items a dissappointment and will cost you money in the long run if you choose to get them altered. It's nice to be able to determine for sure if you love something or hate something when trying it on.
A final and most extreme perk of shopping in store is that at 3pm on the previous Sunday (27th), you can go in store and get a preview at everything that will be on sale in the store the following day. This means you can go and shop everything the day before and try things on and know exactly what you want to purchase. The day the sale launches, all you have to do is grab the things you know you're buying and check out.
Online Shopping:
From what I've heard I know that e-commerce shopping has been ramped up compared to the years prior. As far as the details on that, I'm not too sure. I don't work at the ecommcerce center or have anything to do with it so I'm not one to ask about specifics. Online shopping for the Lilly APS has always been strong and grows stronger each year.
In recent years, the website created a virtual line where you are placed based on when you arrive at the site. This line will have almost 100,000 people in it by the end of the first day, to hover over your computer at 7:59 and right at 8 o'clock, go to the Lilly website to be placed in line. Whatever you do, DO NOT REFRESH YOUR PAGE. If you do, the website will place you at the end of the line.
You do lose the perk of getting to try on and take your time when you shop online. Before the sale starts, so tomorrow. You need to go on the Lilly site and make an account. Here you can put in your credit card info, your address, and everything you need to make checkout efficient and smooth. There will be tens of thousands of people on this site and whoever checks out first gets first dibs of the items. People who check out before you might steal something out of your cart so it's a good idea to make an account prior to shopping.
The biggest perk of shopping online is that you can see everything that is on sale. Stores will only have what they currently have in the back room on the floor. They might have limited sizes and styles. They most likely won't have items from Spring in store (which is a third of the sale almost every year). Stores will have most of Summer but definitely won't have a lot of Spring in stock. If you were eyeing the Allair Maxi for example, from Spring, odds are stores won't have it but online might. You do get much more to choose from on the eccomerce site but the shopping is much more cut throat.
Happy Shopping! I can't wait to see what everyone gets!
xx,
Lucy
