3 Outfits Perfect for College & High School

Daily Dose of Prep attracts a pretty wide audience but the biggest age range of readers is 15-25 which means the majority of my audience is still in school whether it be high school or college. I often get asked to share some of my favorite things to wear to school and for the most part, I share my outfit of the day on Instagram story but I sometimes forget to share where everything is from. My closet really has everything in it; there are nicer clothes for presentations, casual cute clothes that make me look presentable yet comfy, and then some athleisure too. Sometimes I will roll out of bed, throw on a t-shirt and leggings and go, but most days I choose (or at least try) to put together a decent looking outfit.

Today I am sharing three of my favorite looks for a day on campus. Since coming to JMU last year, my style has matured a lot. I since become interested in some trendier pieces all while keeping the preppy style as the roots of my fashion sense. I've been trying new styles (aka bodysuits!!) and stepping slightly out of my fashion comfort zone. I have tried to shop at more stores other than J. Crew, Vineyard Vines, and Lilly. I have since become in love with SheInside, BooHoo, Madewell, and Free People of all places! Don't think that my preppy style is going anywhere though, I just want to share some fresher ideas. After all, I can't play it safe if I want to keep growing my blog and Instagram!

When it comes to dressing for a day on campus, I want to make sure that I am comfortable, presentable, and confident. Like I mentioned above, I will mostly dress up for class and by dress up, I mean that I'll wear jeans. I am sharing a "dressy", a casual cute, and a athleisure outfit today. All of these I have worn to campus and I have come home after a long day very pleased with that I wore and how I felt. Everything in these outfits are linked down below so you can get ready for school!

This bookworm outfit is super cute and very simple to recreate. I love my J. Crew toothpick jeans, I wear them all the time and they have great stretch to them. I also really love the different types of washes and colors they come in. I then tuck in my favorite blue and white striped oxford button up and cuff the sleeves. To polish the look off I will style a cheetah print belt with the top. I love the way that oxford blue and cheetah look together -- I think it's such a classy combo and it's been around for years. For a final touch, I will go with a pair of leather loafer slides. I love this pair from Sam Edleman -- they're on sale too, ladies!

This is my go-to casual cute outfit. There are some days that I seriously can't get myself together. I either had a super long night the day before, or it's a Friday and I just want to feel as comfy as possible. I will style a pair of black legging with a light weight slub knit tee. These are super inexpensive and come in a thousand different colors. I will throw on a cozy oversized cardigan and a pair of Birkenstocks. To jazz the outfit up, I'll style some fun dainty gold jewelry with it. I am really enjoying my new Alpha Delta Pi diamond necklace from EverRow but sometimes I'l layer my Kendra Scott Elise necklace with my monogrammed necklace. With this outfit, I will wear some light makeup and throw my hair in a half bun.

My Study Chic outfit is my favorite kind of outfit to wear to campus. I never want to feel too dressy because I usually end up sitting in the library for hours waiting for class to start and this outfit is so comfy! I love the combo of looking presentable all while feeling comfy. For this outfit, I styled those great J. Crew jeans I talked about earlier with this linen sweater from J. Crew. This sweater comes in multiple colors so there's plenty to choose from. I then throw on my cheetah slip on sneakers and go. If I need them, I'll wear my glasses and I'll polish off the look with my Kate Spade tortoise shell square studs. These studs are my favorite for Fall. They are wearable from September all the way through November and really tie in well with an Autumn wardrobe.
