10 Glitter Items You Need in Your Closet
By now, it's no surprise that I love glitter clothing. I know it's not for everybody but I think you can easily and tastefully incorporate it into your wardrobe without overdoing it. I understand glitter can sometimes be hard to wear, but when getting ready for a night out or for a date function I always like being a little bit different from everybody there and glitter is the way to do it.
Every time I see brands come out with new arrivals, there's always at least one glitter item within the collection and whether it's casual or formal I 90% of the time fall in love with the item. Since posting a few glitter outfits last week for New Years, I have received emails and messages about how to pull off sequined clothes and where to even start looking. Here are 10 fabulous glitter items to add to your wardrobe without going overboard.
Shop the Post
Let's start with the more formal items. I would say items one, three, nine and ten are the dressiest glitter items of the post. The gold glitter jumpsuit from Free People is currently on major sale and also comes in black and rose. I tried this on and had to force myself to leave the store without it but wow did I love it. It does go a little low on the sides so make sure to invest in a pretty bralette or a pair of sticky boobs. I would style this with black heels and a trendy jacket or a tailored black blazer. The short sleeve sequin dress and the silver glitter woven dress are both fabulous and perfect to keep in your closet for holidays and fun nights out with your gals. I would style these both with black heels or black over the knee boots for a more modern style. Finally, the glitter skirt is insanely adorable. I have this on the way to my house right now. It's really affordable from SheInside and looks great with any black or white top. I again, would style this with black heels or black over the knee boots.
The more casual items listed are items four and three. I love the glitter woven mock turtleneck bodysuit. I purchased an almost identical one from Forever21 and loved the way it looked both on the hanger and on a body. I styled mine with black culottes but would wear it with jeans or a cute skirt. The gold turtleneck is from Free People and under $100. It also comes in black for an edgier and more subdued look. I love this with a raw hemmed pair of jeans and some casual sneakers.
As for accessories I am sharing a pair of shoes, a handbag, and a scrunchie of all things. I have talked about my gold glitter Old Skool Vans a few times now and I can't tell you enough how much I love them. They are $65 and really comfortable. They look great with a white bodysuit or a nice neutral sweater for a more casual look. They take a few wears to break in, but after that they are perfect. I love this hardshell glitter clutch from Express too. It's on sale right now and will jazz up any outfit. It is great with a little black dress or with a sweater and jeans and boots for a dinner date or a night out with your friends. Finally, if you are a little nervous where to start and just want a touch of glitter, begin with the gold glitter velvet srunchie. This is a great accessory to add to any outfit just to bring it up a notch.
