NYFW Fall & Winter Recap

This past weekend was a total dream. I cannot stress enough how incredible my first trip to New York Fashion Week was. I was invited by Nolcha Shows to view eight collections for the Fall and Winter 2018 seasons. The creations these designers produced were stunning. Again, something I can't stress enough. Half the time, I was so wrapped up in the creations of the garments that I forgot I was supposed to be snapping pictures to share with all of you! Of the eight designers, seven of them were clothing designers and one was a handbag designer. There were a few shows that really stood out to me due to their craftsmanship, attention to detail, and original design. I am so excited to share these looks with you.

Gemma Hoi -- The Gemma Hoi show was the first runway of the weekend. Gemma Hoi designed a modern collection inspired by Rosie the Riveter and women working for the first time. She used only denim and crisp white cotton button downs. She swapped heels for work boots which tied the entire collection together. I loved how the denim and clean white shirts played off one another to further feature the detail and originality in the demin. From pleats to distressing and asymmetrical silhouettes, Gemma Hoi showed off a breathtaking collection.

Lavanya Coodly -- Lavanya Coodly was far and away my favorite collection of the day. She debuted her line for Fall featuring both mens and womenswear, inspired but he idea of escaping the confines of a day-to-day existence and the many worlds we straddle. These pieces were designed to be effortless, timeless, all while maintaining a chic and classic look. The idea of the collection was that you can wear these pieces anywhere at anytime and never have them go out of style.

By Sonia Olla -- Sonia Olla was another one of the fashion shows that I couldn't get enough of. I was eating up every look made it's way down the runway. Sonia Olla is a Spanish designer hailed by the NYT as "a furnace of earthy sensuality". She infused her collection with her Spanish dance background. She has been a choreographer for Madonna and Ricky Martin. I need those gold emboidered mules and I love the warm tangerine tones!

I also love how she used navy, rather than a lot of black in her designs. Navy is such a classy color that looks great on everyone. I love the navy pleated skirt and pants combination on some of these looks. How incredibly creative is that? I can absolutely see these flamenco infusions throughout this entire collection. Also can we talk about these hats? This collection was the best as far as accessories go. The over exaggerated hats, tassel clutches, and embroidered mules are too fabulous for words.
