Spring Wardrobe Basics

March is here, which means Spring is only a short way away! Can you believe we made it through the never-ending month of January and the fast-flying February? Here in the South, trees are starting to bloom and the air smells refreshed. I've even been able to fall asleep with my window open a few nights!

Now that Spring Break is here (well, one day away), and February is behind us, it's time to swap our Winter wardrobe for our Spring ones. Although yes, I'm still keeping a few of my sweaters and my lightweight parka towards the front of my closet, I'm lining them up right next to my crisp white blouses, my blush crossbody, and my early spring sundresses. I didn't shop for clothing at all during February 🙌🏻 , but I did do a lot of window shopping! With a weeks worth of waitressing on the horizon, I just might have to break that no-spending pact of mine and buy a few things on my wardrobe essentials list.

As you can tell by my essentials for the upcoming season, navy, white, and blush pink make up the majority of my wardrobe. All three of these colors work really nicely in the early Spring and carry all the way through the Summer. Spring can be a tricky season to style for, especially March. We still see those chilly days where all we want to do is wear a parka and our Ugg boots, but we also get our fair share of those warmer days where you can wear long sleeves and jeans and be perfectly content.

Even though we're not quite at Memorial Day (or nowhere close to it), I still think that it's perfectly acceptable to wear white. For Spring, I try to avoid wearing boots in general, unless they're rain boots. I feel like I've been living in ankle boots, Bean boots, and Uggs so I take any opportunity to wear sandals. My go to Spring shoes are Jack Rogers, if it's warm enough. I love my navy ones and my gold ones because they literally match everything I wear from March through August. If I want to be a little more comfortable, I'll swap Jacks for espadrilles. They're great walking shoes, but are way cuter than sneakers. I love these wrap up Soludos. They're great with dresses, jeans, and skirts all throughout the warmer weather. If I want to dress casual, I'll wear a pair of New Balance sneakers. The blush pair above is flying off the shelves.

Tops are relatively simple for Spring, I think. You can find delicate blouses and striped tees to go with a simple pair of jeans or colored chino shorts. If I need extra warmth, I make sure I have either my navy or white sweater with me. The ruffle neck sweater is really feminine and looks great on its own or layered with a button up. The white sweater I shared is a little oversized so I can throw it on over a long sleeve shirt with a pair of jeans. I love a classic slouchy sweater in my wardrobe for any season. I also cannot resist a cute jacket to wear with jeans. This blush fleece is so cute and still looks put together even though you're comfortable.

Some of the best dresses in my closet are my shirt dresses. The white one above is right at the top of my wish list. It's under $100 from Tuckernuck and is perfect worn on it's own, or layered with a sweater or pullover. The dress is a modern classic that you can keep in your wardrobe for a really long time. I also live a good denim shirt dress. The one above is from Madewell and is ultra-feminine with the ruffle detailing on the shoulders. I can see myself wearing it a thousand different ways.
