The Best White Dress for Spring
We're not quite at Memorial Day yet, but I don't care -- the summer whites are coming out from the back of my closet. I've been styling white before the "appropriate time", but there are just so many great garments right now, I just have to share! I've raved about this oh so perfect white shirt dress way too many times, but I haven't dedicated an entire post to it. This dress is hands down my favorite dress I own. I purchased this drop waist ruffle hem shirt dress a month ago from the Tuckernuck flagship store in Georgetown and I personally, can't get enough of it.
To start, I love how lightweight this dress is. Even though it has a full length sleeve, pockets, and additional fabric for the ruffle hem, the dress is fabulously light. I also love the length. The drop waist silhouette gives the illusion that the dress is shorter than it actually is, but it still is an extremely appropriate length. It's flattering, functional, and so easy to throw on. I tried this dress on with every pair of shoes I can think of. From a dressy wedge to my Hunter rain boots, sparkly Vans, and trendy espadrilles you absolutely can't dress this item incorrectly.
I swoon over the detail in this dress (& the fact that it has pockets!), but I also love that it's a blank canvas. A white, crisp shirt dress is such a versatile item to keep in your wardrobe, leaving a lot of room for your own accessories. I took a very springy route when styling this dress and paired a few of my favorite Lilly Pulitzer items with it. First, I pulled out my Lilly Pulitzer Fit to Be Tied sandals for the first time this year and styled them with this dress. I love these sandals. I wore them to every single shift at work this past summer and they still look great after all those days at work! They're beyond broken in and are such a trendy pair of sandals to have in my closet. Seriously, buy these, you won't be disappointed.
To add my own little classic prep spin on the outfit, I tied the Guac n Roll men's pocket square from Lilly Pulitzer in my hair like a ribbon. I found this little gem in my Christmas stocking this year and have tied it to my purse, my weekender tote, around my neck, and in my hair and have received compliments in it every single time I show it off. I love taking a men's item and making it my own. It adds a slight pop of color to this outfit while not taking away from the classic style of the dress.
