Weekly Skinny: September 7th
Finally Friday! Woo woo! This week has been forever long it feels like, I woke up bright and early on Monday morning with a powerful head cold. Ever since I've been taking Vitamin C drops like crazy and sanitizing just about everything in sight. I even Clorox wiped by desk at the library down before sitting. I'm not taking any chances to further deteriorate my health because recruitment starts today!
YES! That's right, formal sorority recruitment starts today and I am so excited! Alpha Delta Pi, along with all of the other social sororities have been preparing for formal recruitment since November and we're so excited the two weekends of recruitment are finally upon us. Be prepared on Instagram -- lots of photos to come!
Plaid Dropwaist Skirt -- I almost bought this skirt at least a half dozen times last year and just could never pull the trigger. The price never got quite as low as I wanted it to be, so I ended up holding off. I was so excited to see it as the cover image for the first email blast for J.Crew Fall. It's also on discount right now!!
Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale -- It's that time of year again! Yes, the Lilly Pulitzer After Party sale is upon us and I know a lot of you are excited. As many of you know, I worked at Lilly during the beginning of the summer and turned in my resignation at the beginning of July. I'm telling y'all, corporate literally doesn't share the dates of the sale until about a week before you all know it, but nonetheless even though I didn't even work at the store anymore, so many readers emailed me asking about it! I know you all are pumped! I know there are several gift card giveaways taking place on IG right now just in time for the sale.
Two Dark Reigns -- If there's one thing I love, it's reading for pleasure. The feeling of picking up a book and completely enjoying it without having to annotate it or write an analysis on it. I just finished When Life Gives You Lululemons and I loved it! It was time for a new book so I picked up the next book in the Three Dark Crowns series, which conveniently came out on Wednesday.
$55 White Ankle Boots -- I love my black ankle boots. In the winter time, it's all I wear when I go out with friends. I love my black pair, but I really want to switch it up and I think white in the fall and winter is so chic. As much as every swears that you can't wear white after Labor Day, I think that rule is old news. I guarantee you, there will be white on the NYFW runways this week!
Black Culotte Denim -- I've shared white denim culottes on the blog many times before and I finally purchased a pair of black culottes as well. Sadly, the exact pair of have in white sold quickly in black and couldn't be found anywhere. I ended up finding a cheaper pair on ASOS for just $19. I love these, but the one thing that I don't loooove is how short they are. YES, I know they're culottes and are supposed to be short, but if these had an extra inch or two on them I would be much happier. Then again, I'm several inches taller than most women. I've already styled these with several sweaters and blouses and I think they're going to be so fun this Fall.
Houndstooth Blazer -- I had to add this to the post late because I just bought it yesterday! I stopped by H&M with my roommate so she could do some last minute recruitment outfit shopping and came across this fabulous blazer. I tried to walk out without it but just couldn't leave. They had only a few left and only one of my size! This classic houndstooth blazer was only $35 and goes with everything. I sized up so it could be layered with thin sweaters.
Brad Mades Jerky -- I've been a big fan of Bon Appetite for a while now, especially the "It's Alive" series from Brad Leone. This week he made beef jerky, and while I'm not a big jerky fan, I love the zest and energy he puts into all of his videos. If you love Tasty videos, you will absolutely love these videos! You have to check them out.
