Four Stylish On The Go Outfits
We're in the dead of winter right now. Currently, Virginia is experiencing the coldest three weeks of the year. Annually, the first handful of weeks in January are frigid and bring single digit temperatures, meaning it's time to bundle up. Being in the middle of the Shenandoah Valley doesn't help either, but by now I'm a pro at dressing for a long day of class while keeping my look cute and warm.
Today I'm sharing my four favorite outfits for a long day at class. Although I'm envisioning myself in these outfits in class, they're perfect for long days of errand running, casual Fridays at work, or just long days where you want to look presentable while feeling comfortable. Every outfit I'm sharing is styled with either leggings or joggers making for maximum comfort on the bottom, while feeling dressed up with a sweater or graphic tee on top.
| sweater | leggings | denim jacket | Hunter boots | scarf |
This outfit is a combination of your favorite pair of leggings (for me it's my LuluLemon Wunder Under leggings) and a thick grey turtleneck sweater. I typically buy sweaters like these a size up for maximum comfort. They're cute styled with a front-tuck and your favorite pair of jeans, or styled with leggings like it is today.
To add dimension and texture to your look, throw an affordable jean jacket over top of the sweater. It instantly adds an element of being put together to your look. Because it's ridiculously chilly on the East Coast right now, I would then wrap a thick heathered grey scarf around my neck to style with my outfit for maximum warmth. Lastly, my choice of shoe for this outfit would be my Chelsea Hunter rain boots. These are waterproof like a rain boot, but you can get away with styling them in pure sunshine. These shoes are light weight but extremely toasty. If you want to add an additional layering to this look, style the boots with a thick camp sock.
| turtleneck | leggings | hair bow | hoops | field jacket | Chelsea boot |
This look practically screams equestrian. I love the neutral tones and textural mix that this outfit brings to a busy day of errands or work. First, start with your favorite pair of leggings, however if you want to dress it up swap them out for dark wash jeans. Then throw on a camel colored mock turtleneck sweater. Again, I would purchase this a size up to give a drop-shoulder effect. I don't love extremely tight chunky sweaters which is why I purchase them a size up.
To add a level of class to your look, top your outfit off with a thick field jacket. Since receiving it for Christmas I have been living in my Barbour Beadnell Wax Jacket. It's an expensive jacket but is worth every single penny. In additional to the jacket, the accessories make this look. Gold hoop earrings are everywhere right now. These hoops aren't too big and chunky, but just the perfect size to add a touch of glitz and glamour to your look. If you like to pull your hair back throughout the day, tie it back with a hair scarf. Hair scarves are affordable and simple ways to add elegance to your look. Even adding a hair scarf to an outfit styled with a sweatshirt and sneakers looks put together.
Lastly, I styled this outfit a pair of brown Chelsea boots. I don't love wearing riding boots. I also don't love a flat boot that goes up to the knee. These Cole Haan Chelsea boots are a fabulous alternative to a classic riding boot. The dark leather is a timeless look and the gold buckle matches those gold hoops we talked about earlier! A boot like this is something worth spending the extra money on because they'll never go out of style.
| turtleneck | jogger | hoops | baseball cap | white Tretorn |
This outfit is my absolute favorite because it's extremely chic and stylish, but exudes comfort. Start with your favorite pair of joggers. Right now, H&M has these joggers in several colors on sale for $13. This navy pair adds a hint of color to your wardrobe and is slightly different from a regular pair of leggings. With your joggers, throw on a soft white turtleneck and give it a front tuck.
With this look, throw on a matching navy and white baseball cap. Being a New York fan, of course I had to take the opportunity to share a great vintage-inspired Yankees hat. To dress up this look, throw on those small, everyday gold hoops I shared earlier. Lastly, style a white, casual walking sneaker with the look. Because it's so cold out, I typically wear my long parka with this outfit.
| cardigan | leggings | pom pom hat | graphic tee | sneaker |
The last casual outfit shares those go-to leggings again, but this time they're styled with an open cardigan sweater. This oversized sweater is a beautiful rose color and features a pocket while being long enough to cover your rear. I will only buy cardigans if they cover my behind. If they don't, I won't wear them. Style this cardigan with a cute graphic tee. It's an easy and comfortable closet staple to keep in your arsenal for days you don't quite know what to wear.
With this look, no need to dress up in anything other than a casual walking sneaker. These Adidas Superstars II are casual, feminine and extremely easy to clean (!!). I love leather sneakers because with one Clorox wipe they look as good as new. Shoes like this are worth the money because they stay clean and classic for so long.
