Weekly Skinny: February 13th
Back with another Weekly Skinny post for your Wednesday. A lot has been happening in life, so let me catch you up to speed. First, last week I was asked by the JMU PINK team to speak on a panel with 7 other "girl bosses" on campus to share my story of Daily Dose of Prep and answer questions. Truthfully, it was a blast. Not only did I link up with a few girls on campus I haven't met yet, but I also realized how unique my platform is here. It was really nice to chat with girls from the JMU community who have been loyal followers since before they even attended JMU.
Second, I have been applying to internships like it's nobody's business. I'm currently having a love/hate relationship with LinkedIn right now. I interviewed with several big name companies back in November alongside hundreds of other applicants. To help keep options open, I've reached out to a few other places I would love to learn from and work for. We'll see what happens.
Third, I started planning ADPis formal recruitment for this September. Even though it's in the fall, that's truthfully not a lot of time! My team and I are working pretty much every single day to teach sisters how to recruit, make decorations, update the sorority house, meet with Panhel and our advisors. Before we know it, I'll be sharing pictures of recruitment!
Lastly, school has been hectic as ever. The semester is busy and my days on campus rarely end before 7 p.m. but I finish my 8-week class in a week and a half and get to enjoy spring break in just three weeks. This year, my family is going to Nashville so if you have any recommendations please share in the comments!
Dolly Parton Grammy Performance - First, this is the only video I can find of the full performance. But, this performance!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! This performance and compilation of performers was amazing. So much so, watching it for the first time gave me chills. Dolly Parton was honored at this year's Grammy awards and sang with the likes of Katy Perry, Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, Little Big Town and Miley Cyrus. The mashup included songs like 9 to 5, Red Shoes and Here You Come Again. Even if you don't love Dolly there's somebody in this performance you enjoy and it's worth the watch.
The Sweater Dress You Need - I shared a few weeks back that one of my resolutions for 2019 was to look more presentable when I leave the house. Last semester I don't think I wore jeans to class except maybe three times for presentations. I've been doing pretty well so far. The only real complaint I have is wanting to be comfortable but also look put together. I've been layering this sweater dress with black leggings and a cute sneaker. The combo makes for a put together but comfy look for class.
The Callista Shift is Back - I purchased the Callista Shift two years ago and it sold out so quickly. This cotton stretch Lilly Pulitzer shift is much more comfortable than the classic shifts and still give the same flattering silhouette. The high collar and embroidery also give a nod to classic Pulitzer styles as well.
Ariana Grande in the News - Ari is killing it. This past Friday she released her album "thank u, next" and topped worldwide charts almost immediately. Personally, I don't think this album is better than Sweetener, but it still features its fair share of incredible hits. Needy and Fake Smile are my favorites. Her album not only made headlines but so did her custom Zac Posen ball gown for the Grammy's she never even attended.
Side Tie Top - I was shopping for the 30 Under $30 the other day and found this side tie top from ASOS. Although this top shows a little skin on the side, it would be so cute with a pair of white linen pants and a gold sandal in the summertime.
