Weekly Skinny: June 5th
Today marks the beginning of my last month as a twenty-year-old. Summer is in full swing and I already have a month at my internship under my belt. It’s a little hard to believe how quickly June snuck up on me. Between the blog, Markley Prescott and a full-time internship it seems like 24 hours in a day just isn’t enough! I haven’t shared a Weekly Skinny in a few weeks and there is a lot to catch you up to speed on.
The Society - Once Game of Thrones ended (no spoilers, but I needed at least 2 more episodes) I needed a new show to binge. I’ve seen what feels like everything on TV and streaming service. I keep getting suggestions to watch Downton Abbey or LOST, but instead I started The Society on Netflix. I finished it in a week. This Lord of the Flies -esque series shares the chaos that unravels after about 200 teenagers return home from a field trip to every in their town gone and no way out. They are left to fend for themselves and keep the chaos at bay. If you were intrigued by the William Golding novel, watch this show.
Vineyard Vines Sweatshirt - A few weeks ago my sister and I ended up making a trip to Vineyard Vines. I went with the intention of not buying a single thing but when I saw this sweatshirt hanging in the sale section, I knew I had to buy it! I probably have four Shep Shirts hanging in my closet and I don’t wear them as often as I wear classic pullover sweatshirts. I love this simple, faded, versatile sweatshirt. I wear it with denim shorts, Nike shorts, white jeans and leggings. I get so many compliments on it and my mom even bought one for herself.
Miley's New Album - Is this the new, new Miley? We had post-Hannah Montana Miley, and then we had off the deep end Miley, and now we have a slightly more calm, in love and hip-hop Miley. This past Friday, the singer released a new EP featuring 6 songs. Although I don’t love every song (I’m sure you can guess the one most everyone skips over) there are a few that I’ve been playing on repeat. Party Up the Street and The Most are great songs for my drive home.
Nantucket Red Tretorn - I probably wore my leopard print Tretorn sneakers two days a week this past semester. I find the Tretorn sneaker to be comfortable, minimalist, and versatile. When you mix such a great silhouette for a shoe with unique Nantucket Red fabric from the infamous Murray’s Toggery Shop, you end up with a beautiful statement shoe perfect for summer long wear.
Rocketman - Fans of Mamma Mia and Bohemian Rhapsody will absolutely love this musical biopic. Sharing the exciting and raw life of Elton John, Rocketman features the songs fans love and stellar acting by Taron Egerton. Also, my all time favorite celebrity crush, Richard Madden, is in this movie (Hi Robb Stark).
Capeline - Pack these in your cooler and take them on vacation! While in Virginia Beach this past weekend, my friend, Sabrina, and I picked these up at the store instead of Whiteclaw. If you want a little more flavor in your drink or want to make really simple but delicious cocktails try mixing Capeline cocktails with something stronger.
Dried Apricots - At school I never ate three meals a day because I literally didn’t budget lunchtime in to my school schedule. Now, with a mandated hour long lunch at work, I eat something light for breakfast, a filling dinner and a have added a light lunch to my daily diet. Three meals a day is just too much for my stomach to handle so I eat a very light lunch each day. I’ve recently replaced dessert at lunch with dried apricots. these filling, sweet gems from nature are delicious and taste just like candy. They are a great source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Potassium (which I desperately need).
