Barbour and Hounds Tooth

Layering is one of my favorite things about fall and now that the temperatures have consistently dipped down into the 50's most days here in Virginia, I've officially pulled out my scarves, sweaters and Barbour Beadnell for the season. I took a trip up to the local apple orchard this past weekend with my good friend Abby, of Abby Ramsay Photography, to capture this cozy but cute fall look.

This outfit is made up of a few closet favorites. To start, I paired a casual fisherman cable knit with a hounds tooth peplum skirt, both from J.Crew Factory. I purchased both items last year, however linked a ton of similar (and affordable) styles in the "shop the post" section. I love the casual look of the sweater paired with a skirt. The different texture and patterns come together perfectly in a traditional fall color scheme.

During fall, I always tend to opt for boots. Whether it be an over the knee boot, an ankle boot or a riding boot they're all just a little cozier than flats or a loafer. I styled my tall matte black Hunter boots with this outfit. They're stylish but also practical for walking through the overgrown grass on a cloudy day.

It was freezing when we went to the orchard so I threw on my Barbour Beadnell Wax Jacket and camel colored scarf for a few extra layers. I received my Barbour as a gift this past Christmas and I love it. For years I was hesitant to think about adding one to my wardrobe merely for the price point. It's an expensive jacket, I won't lie, but let me tell you it's warm, stylish, versatile and overall extremely practical. It has a ton of pockets and is a classic silhouette that won't go out of style. My scarf is probably my favorite winter accessory, so much so that I have this one in three other colors. From H&M, this camel colored scarf is under $20 and keeps me cozy all fall and winter.
