To The Girl Going Greek...

Okay deep breath…you’re going to be great!

I’ve been in your shoes and I understand the stress you’re going through. As much as this matters right now, know that what’s supposed to happen will happen. Let you’re beautiful personality will shine through and your radiant character will floor anyone who meets you. Throughout the week, try to shed the materialistic insecurities that come along with some recruitments. I know the girl in front of you might have beautiful hair, and the girl behind you might have a really cute outfit, but you offer so much and any chapter would be lucky to call you a sister and if they can’t see that, forget them. You are created in the image and likeness of GOD and comparison is the thief of joy.

Proverbs 31:25 says “ "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future”. Don’t fret. Don’t stress. Don’t worry. Cast your worries on the LORD, bring light to any row house with your radiant smile and feel GOD as he lays his hands on your shoulders and guides you in the right direction. I know seeing thousands of girls all lined up, jittery and nervous can overwhelm anyone but do not fear. The LORD guides your path.

During this week repeat Psalm 46:5  which says “God is within her, she will not fail”. Many people say “I prayed for that chapter and I didn’t get it”. Do not pray for one thing, but pray for GOD to help show you that way. Don’t pray for a particular sorority, but pray that GOD helps you find a sisterhood that gifts you with life long friends, wonderful memories, an opportunity to serve, an opportunity to lead and a place to call home...wherever that may be.

Remember that GOD has a perfect plan for you. Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you,'' declares the LORD. “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. You are in good hands with GOD. He will guide you to your perfect collegiate home. The letters do not matter. The colors do not matter. The public perceptions do not matter. What matters it that you find someplace where you can prosper as yourself and feel fully accepted by those around you.

Throughout this time of anxiousness, remember to trust in HIM. Recall the words of Proverbs 3:5-6 and “trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding”. Go where your instincts guide you. Enjoy every second of recruitment and do not listen to the opinions of others. Cast your worries on your faith and trust in GOD. He will lead you to where he needs you to be.

Take recruitment week in stride and continually repeat Joshua 1:9 to yourself. “Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your GOD is with you wherever you go.” Be confident, be bright, be you. Lead with your heart and your faith and you will be shown the past that is best for you. As you have found a home in Christ, he will help you find a home at your school.
