Weekly Skinny: February 7th

Happy Friday! It was a good week. I can already feel the magic in the air this February. No sprained ankles, no towed cars, no flu - already better than January. I'm looking forward to a relaxed weekend. It looks like JMU might get a little snow tomorrow, which means I need to go to Target tonight so I can buy a bottle of wine for when I sit on the couch to watch movies all day. Next weekend is going to be extremely busy so I'm going to enjoy 48 hours of doing nothing while I can!

My Valentine's Day Look - I posted 40 affordable dresses for Valentine's Day earlier this week and my look is a part of these 40! This year for Valentine's Day, although I'm not celebrating with a significant other, I'm attending a big Valentine's Day party and everyone is supposed to dress up. This is what I've decided on!

Leave Your Mark Podcast - Aliza Licht is the author of one of my favorite books, Leave Your Mark. She's taken her career-advice book one step further with the Leave Your Mark podcast where each week she invites a new guest to speak on the fashion industry, career development and professional advice. I just listened to one about what HR hiring departments look for in a resume and an hour later I was re-writing my resume. Leave Your Mark can be found on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

J. Crew Cheetah Jacket DUPE - I've had my eye on the cheetah print faux fur coat from J.Crew for the longest time but couldn't ever justify spending $278 for such a statement piece, especially on a college student budget. I love cheetah though and my fashionable side was low-key heart broken and needed it in my closet. I found this dupe on SheInside for only $47. However, you can use my code "1ddfprep" for 15% off of your purchase making the coat under $40. This coat is well-made, warm and has pockets and hidden clasps to button up on chillier days. Shop the jacket here!

Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - When I got the flu two weeks ago I was quarantined to my room and therefore the only thing I could do was watch TV. I'm a total TV junkie and have seen just about everything on streaming services. I needed something new and I turned to Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime. I now understand why they swept at the 70th Emmy Awards because this show is everything. The cast, costumes, music, humor and story line are perfect. There's only three seasons out, so you can easily binge (as I did) in time for season 4!

See You Tomorrow by Nordstrom - My capstone project actually led me to this little discovery, but Nordstrom is entering the re-sale industry. AKA, you can now buy Nordstrom finds on their new online thrift shop, See You Tomorrow. This site, although only announced last week, already has designer and more affordable listings for men and women, along with shoes and accessories. You can shop brands like Alice + Olivia, Vince, and Golden Goose right now for a fraction of the original cost.

Matera Moderna Sunglasses - If I get asked to link one thing, it's these sunglasses. My Jackie O inspired, oversized, tortoise shell sunnies from Free People that as Amazon-affordable. Not only am I linking them again (woo!), but FP keeps releasing them in new colors. I'm about to buy two more pairs! Someone stop me.
