What I Purchased in January

I recently wrapped up my last Christmas break I'll ever have, which meant I had an entire month to do nothing but work. I spend every day of my month-long break either at my internship or waiting tables, and boy did it pay off - literally. With the extra cash in my pocket and some gift cards lying around from Christmas, I shopped a little more than usual and today I'm sharing all of my recent purchases with you. Read up on and shop what I bought down below!

Where Cooking Begins Cookbook - I'm a huge Bon Appetit fan. I follow all of the chefs on Instagram and watch their YouTube channel like it's Netflix. With so much love for the brand, I finally purchased Carla's new cookbook. Carla is my favorite chef in the Test Kitchen, not only because of her witty and real humor she adopts in every video, but also because she cooks real, simple, delicious meals perfect for those just navigating the kitchen seas. This book is affordable and full of great tips and tricks for all beginner cooks, like myself.

Bishop Sleeve Cardigan - One of my favorite looks is a pair of high waisted jeans and a basic white t-shirt. Now that it's January, I can't leave the house and feel comfortable in just a simple short sleeve! I purchased this textured, bishop sleeve cardigan as en extra layer of warmth for classes and shifts at work. This sweater is extremely affordable, and you can use my coupon code "1ddfprep" for 15% off of your purchase.

Mini Ugg Boot - I've wanted to buy a pair of Mini Ugg boots since last February and never could make it past online window shopping. Between several stocked up gift cards and some extra tip money from serving tables, I finally ordered a pair. Let me tell you, the best purchase I've made in a long time. I like these subtle, understated boots because they keep my feet warm in the Virginia mountain air, but also are easy to throw on. I style them with jeans, leggings and joggers and are perfect for traveling, running errands and going to class.

Out from Under Bralettes - I was killing time in Urban Outfitters one day and saw a huge sale sign in the back of the store. I naturally was drawn to it like a moth to a flame and discovered the Out from Under line at UO. I've never heard of this brand before, but it's Urban Outfitters line of intimates and cozy-wear. These bralettes are my new favorite because there are so many different styles and colors. They are great to wear layered up with a pair of leggings or just thrown on as something more comfortable than a tight sports bra. I ended up buying five of them. Someone stop me! 🙊

Madewell Textured Tee - This was a total impulse buy because it looked so. cozy. It was also on sale, so I guess we've found my Achilles Heel. Cozy + Sale = Guaranteed Purchase. Either way, this textured henley-styled button up from Madewell is the perfect thing to throw on with a pair of boyfriend jeans and sneakers. It's a great layering piece too. I wore it when I went to Texas a few weeks ago and it spontaneously snowed for hours.

DryBar Dry Shampoo + Detangler - My go-to hair products until the end of time. I swear by DryBar hair care and these two products were just replacing two empties I've had since December. Don't get me wrong, purchasing a $23 bottle of Detox dry shampoo makes me question my entire existence, but once I have a desperate need for it on third-day hair I understand why I do the things I do. The detangling Prep Rally spray is nothing to overlook either. I love the smell of it and it does the job. It makes blowdrying so much easier too.

White Fringe Jacket - This was actually sent to me in a PR package, but I needed to include it in the post because I love it. This is so far out of my personal style box but one of my favorite movies ever is Ferris Bueller's Day Off and I've always loved Sloane's leather jacket. No, I won't style mine quite like she did with the shorts and leg warmers, but a few Pinterest pictures totally convinced me to add the jacket to my order. I ordered a size up and can't wait to wear it to day parties at school. More pictures to come on this! This jacket is extremely affordable, and you can use my coupon code "1ddfprep" for 15% off of your purchase.

Target Candles - I'm a candle gal, what can I say. Target's already added all of their spring items to the shelves, including floral and sweet candles. The Peach Prosecco and Wildberry Frosé candles are a great mix of flora and sweet scents and completely brighten up my room. They're both from the Opal House brand. One wick candles are $5 and two wick candles are $10.

Madewell Chunky Oversized Hoop Earrings - I love gold hoops. I have way too many pairs and almost all of them are from Madewell. I've probably walked out on these hoops three times before purchasing them, but on NYE I grabbed them on a whim and I think I've worn them every night out since. They're definitely a chunky gold hoop, but so lightweight. They won't tear your ear lobe, which is always a plus! They're affordable too. A great dupe for Sheila Fajl earrings.

Gold Palm Soap Dish - The past three months have been horrible in terms of my acne. I mean, awful. At first I adopted a vigorous skincare routine, which only irritated my skin more and made my acne that much more difficult to wrangle. Since then, I've cut away the fat and only wash my face with a bar of Dove soap for sensitive skin. I was so skeptical to try this and miraculously it worked. I needed a soap dish at school though to hold my Dove! Now it's just gentle soap and my tried and true moisturizer to conquer my acne.

Out from Under Sweater - Yes, another Out from Under product. I told y'all, I love this brand! This sweater, again had a sale sign on it, so I purchased it. This slouchy, casual sweater is what I wear over my leotard when I leave ballet. I know it sounds silly, but I love the subtle purple color. It's great styled with a pair of jeans and sneakers or with sweats for a casual outfit.
